Grupa 3S pracownicy budynek widok korytarz

The 3S Group supports the implementation of clients’ business visions by designing and introducing ICT solutions. The entity focuses on network projects, cloud computing services, unified communications and technologies supporting data security in business.

The basis for the solutions provided by the 3S Group is its own infrastructure: a 4250 km long fibre-optic network and geographically dispersed clusters, six data centres. The 3S Group, which employs 250 people, includes 3S and 3S Data Center companies located in Katowice. The owner of the 3S Group is P4, a leader in mobile telephony and PLAY network operator.

2020
3S merges with 3S Fibertech

On 2 January 2020, 3S SA and 3S Fibertech Sp. z o.o. merged and 3S Fibertech became an official branch of our company.

This has allowed us to make our business processes more coherent and create a strong basis for further geographical development.

2019
Entering Play Group structures

On 19 August 2019, P4 - the leader of mobile telephony and at the same time one of the largest telecommunications companies in Poland - became the new owner of 3S.

This transaction was the culmination of 10-year close cooperation between Play and our Group companies. We have maintained our distinctness in line with our existing strategy, and thanks to elements of business synergy with Play, we have gained an opportunity for further geographical development and access to mobile services.

2018
Data Center, operator with added value

We started to intensively promote our Data Center Cluster, which already had 6 facilities and was located in five different locations. All facilities connected by a fibre-optic network became the basis for "tailor-made solutions" for our clients.

Based on the cluster's resources we have created unique IT projects such as disaster recovery, virtual data center, IaaS/PaaS and many others.

2017
Opening a new data centre, purchase of itWORKS shares

In March we launched another data centre facility - this time in Warsaw. The new 1250 m2 data centre has already become the fifth facility in our Group, but not the last.

We have also invested in the purchase of a facility for another data centre - in Bytom - with an area of 750m2. The interest of our Clients in the new possibilities that have opened up to them thanks to this move has confirmed that we are going in the right direction.

The next step in the development of the data centre business in our Group was the purchase of 50% of shares in itWORKS from Euvic Group. The transaction helped 3S Data Center to strengthen its competence in the area of integration solutions based on data centres.

2016
3S Fibertech, new investment in Kraków

At the beginning of 2016, 3S Data Center leased a 475 m2 data centre from Park Naukowo-Technologiczny Euro-Centrum.

In addition, the 3S Group acquired another company - 3S BOX SA, which was tasked with building its own data centre in Warsaw.

This was not the only challenge that awaited us. In June our Group was joined by Fibertech Networks from Kraków (assuming at the same time the new name of 3S Fibertech), which in addition to fiber optic network also brought another data centre facility to our resources.

The creation of further data centres within the structures of the 3S Group and their networking resulted in the creation of the Data Centre Cluster.

2015
Ownership change, 3S Solutions is created

3S Group has acquired a new investor in the form of private equity fund Polish Enterprise Fund VII, managed by Enterprise Investors. The fund bought back all the shares belonging to PCC SE and part of the shares owned by the founders, who decided to retain a minority stake. The acquisition of a new investor provided additional capital to finance the company's development.

Another important chapter in our history has begun - with new goals, plans and opportunities.

In 2015, we also decided on one more important step.

Observing the dynamic development of the data center services market, we have changed the name of 3Services Faktory to 3S Data Center SA and created the Solutions sales team, which specializes in selling services based on Cloud2B solutions.

2014
Change of the company name and headquarters

Being in line with the brand recognized on the market, we changed our name to 3S SA. At the same time we also moved our business from Gliwice to Katowice. 3S headquarters are still located in Park Naukowo-Technologiczny Euro-Centrum.

Apart from organisational changes, we have not forgotten about our business. We continued to expand our infrastructure not only in Upper Silesia - where we already had more than 2000 km of our own fibre-optic network at the time - but also in Kraków, Rzeszów, Wrocław and Wałbrzych.

2013
Network expansion in Kraków and Wrocław

We have started to intensively develop the 3S network also outside the Silesian Province. The first step in this process was the purchase of an organised part of the enterprise providing telecommunications services in the industrial area and the Blachownia housing estate in Kędzierzyn Koźle in the Opolskie Province.

After the successful expansion of the network in Kędzierzyn Koźle, we have extended the expansion to other cities. We started from Kraków, and then the networks in Wroclaw and Rzeszow were created.

2012
Common brand 3S

Years of work as 3S Śląskie Sieci Światłowodowe made the market call the company simply "3S". This initiated the introduction of a new visual identity in the companies of our Group and a change in the strategy promoting our brand. Our logo evolved, became shorter, more legible. Since then, both our companies: TKP SA and 3Services Factory started to appear under a common brand - 3S.

2011
Opening of the first data centre

On 11 May 2011, the company 3Services Faktory (since 2015 known as 3S Data Center SA) opened the first data center at Ekonomiczna Street in Katowice, with an area of 1000 m2.

At that time, it was one of the largest data processing centres in Poland. The investment was a response to market expectations and the growing needs of the IT, telecommunications and other industries. Currently, the colocation area in the first location is 2200m2 and it is the largest centre of this type in the region.

2010
Start of data center business and development of telecommunications

We decided that the natural direction of business development will be to build our own data centre and decided to establish 3Services Factory for this purpose.

We have also decided to include fixed-line telephony in our services. This activity has been taken by a subsidiary company 3S Sp. z o.o., which is a telecommunications operator (incorporated into 3S S.A. in 2014).

At the end of the year, 3S Sp.z o.o. took over Ośrodek Telekomunikacji Górnictwa Węglowego from COIG SA, which gave the company an impulse to work intensively on expanding the range of services provided and directing them towards the demanding SME market.

2007

As a result of internal changes within the Capital Group, Kopalnia Piasku Szczakowa S.A. became a part of PCC SE (European Joint Stock Company) with its registered office in Duisburg, and consequently the shares of our company owned by KP Szczakowa became the property of PCC SE.

2006

The company's mission for the next few years has become to make the network available to everyone who needs it. We started cooperation with Telekomunikacja Polska SA, thanks to which we started using its channel infrastructure. The group of clients grew to include smaller and larger ISP operators (wholesale Internet users), large enterprises and institutions to which we offered data transmission between locations and access to the Internet.

We have started cooperation with Silesian universities, town halls, significant companies in the region. We have launched a 24-hour Network Management Centre, which has had a significant impact on infrastructure control and improvement of service quality.

2004
Silesian fibre optic networks

The operator market in the country quickly recognised the opportunities and benefits of working with us, but many companies still recognized us as a company providing services for mines. We decided to create a brand that would tell the market more about what our business is based on and so we created the 3S brand: Śląskie Sieci Światłowodowe.

Large telecoms started to lease fibres from 3S, becoming one of the largest clients of the company. This year, Kopalnia Piasku Kotlarnia S.A. withdrew from our business and sold its shares to other shareholders.

2003
Operator for operators

From the very beginning, we have been building the infrastructure with the use of the best equipment at the moment, focusing on maximum bandwidth and transmission security. We have been consistently implementing our strategy, established in 2001, of making optical fibres available to all other operators.

2002
Establishment of TKP SA

We did it! The signing of the articles of association, i.e. the establishment of TKP SA (Telekomunikacja Kopalń Piasku) took place in February 2002.

The project has been implemented thanks to several factors. The first of these factors was the telecommunications competence of the staff coming from the founding companies, who in the years 1995-2000 were the owners of the largest independent Internet operator in Silesia.

The second factor was the so-called "right of way" contributed to the project thanks to Kopalnia Piasku Szczakowa SA and Kopalnia Piasku Kotlarnia SA (hence the name of TKP SA), which allowed for quick and economic construction of networks along the railway tracks of sand mines: Szczakowa, Kotlarnia and Maczki-Bór. The market situation at that time did not facilitate gaining capital for development, so our company grew organically, financing investments based on loans and profits.

2001
From idea to action

In 2001, we created a project to build a fibre-optic backbone network. Two experienced managers, Zbigniew Szkaradnik and Wojciech Apel, were joined by Jacek Groyecki.

The greatest challenge for the founders, however, was to raise capital. The undertaking assumed a combination of: managers with experience in IT, sand mines with the right of way and external investors.

And so the idea turned into action.
